Those who know me for some time would know how much i like cheeeeeeeeseeeeee~
Yes, especially in maggi, it tastes so nice, right Vincci? ^^
*** All photos taken by my hp.
But i also craze for japanese dishes. Enjoy goin to Sakae Sushi very much. Thanks so much to Silver who brought me to Pavillion branch the very 1st time. it’s so affordable and the Tofu Cheese Cake also nice. but now, they don’t serve it anymore :(
Hehe and also thanks to Silver, i was introduced to this new place, which i love a lot – Pasta Zanmai!!!
PASTA Zanmai is definitely one of the best hidden eateries in Mid Valley~ You can walk past the row many times and miss it completely <well, mayb im not alert enough :P>… Although this place looks rather hidden but it’s also very cozy once you find it~
As u can tell from the name, it combines Italian and Japanese… When i first heard of it, i was like… ewww, having unagi on pasta? @@ but then, i was so wrong bcuz Pasta Zanmai does it so so so well~~~~~ and i so love the idea lah~~~ and yes!!! finally, a place that combines both my fav!! ^^
it practices open kitchen so you can see how your food is being served and it also serves a lot of unique and special pasta, with japanese flavor~ hehe the chefs behind the glass not only make udon or fried tempura or grilled unagi, but they make pasta too!!
Errrr, chopsticks with pasta? @.@
Yeap, very interesting. At here, we eat pasta with chopsticks but not fork and spoon, further enhance the Japanese experience here hehe~
*** The pasta here is a thinner version of Italian spaghetti, and is easier for us to eat with chopsticks~ All the soft pastas are imported from Japan, same go for all the other ingredients there beside beef and chicken are local ingredients~
the drinks also very special. since it’s a few of us, it’s better to order by jug rather than glass… more affordable too ;)
Oh yeah, of cuz u can order green tea, it comes in a pot and u can refill as many as u want later~
hehe just in case u donno, fruit juice is my all time fav~ RM 12 per jug and can serve 4 glasses.
heart mix fruit juice ^^
why do i love that place so much? beside of the fantastic customer service, there is special treatment too~ Thanks to Jay that i got these miso soup and heavily seasoned sesame oil salad for free :D
and now is the tricky part…Which pasta to choose from??
Hmm, we had so much fun choosing~ I’m sure u will experience the same too, hehe Just follow what your appetite desires cuz all foods here also delicious~
Pasta Zanmai provides healthy option for pasta, by using real fresh ingredients and no oil~ Yes, i wont get fat by eating so much pasta anymore~ ^^ Once you eat at Pasta Zanmai, you will most probably change your perception about pasta then~ :P
Here are some that i tried ^^
Asari to Kinoko no Cream Sauce
Short-neck Clam & Japanese Mushroom Cream Sauce Pasta RM 26
goshh, i love this so much that i ordered it every time i go there~ its yummy, yummy and very yummy. Mayb bcuz i love short-neck clam crazily :P the japanese mushroom cream sauce is just so good~
Unagi no Yanagawa-fu Pasta
Braised Eel with Egg, Onion & Mushroom Pasta RM 26
i love the egg so much!!! After mixing the egg with the pasta, the pasta tastes so much smoother and creamier~ truly love it.
Apart from pasta, there is pizza too!!! it offers light thin crisp base of Japanese rice cracker snack~ and japanese pizza has become one of my favourites at Pasta Zanmai then~
Hotate to Kinoko no Mentaimayo Pizza
Grilled Scallop & Mushroom with spicy Cod Fish Roe & Mayonnaise Pizza
U can choose toppings like unagi, chicken, prawns, scallop etc~ For me, the portion consider quite a lot, and the taste is awesome~ i ordered the scallop one, and the scallops are fresh + big ^^
Some other great foods in the menu that i’ve tried but forgot to take photos are:
Chicken Katsu Curry Rice
Fried Chicken Cutlet with Curry Sauce & Rice RM 22
Yes Pasta Zanmai caters to rice-eaters too~ the curry is nice and so special, not spicy at all~
Ebi Tempura no Gomadare Shitate
Prawn Tempura Pasta with Sesame Sauce RM 26
It is the prawn tempura pasta topped with sesame sauce which lifted appetite and went so well with the pasta~ it sprinkled with black sesame too, very aromatic.
Unagi Kabayaki to Onsen Tamago no Pizza
Roasted Eel & Hot-spring Egg Pizza RM 26
This one is really nice, the tamago onsen or hot-spring egg keeps its yolk as runny as the white. It’s the perfect half-boil. Egg is not overcooked but worthy for the soft, smooth + rich taste in the mouth~
As for desserts… well i didnt get to try yet >.< cuz everytime after those foods already very very full… :(
It has wide variety of japanese dessert~~~~ all so yummy!!!!! so make sure u keep your stomach for these kay? nez time i will d, how can i miss it everytime >.<
Trust me, it’s a great place for u to eat together with your beautiful friends ^^
or three… <the 3rd one who is Silver, one of my besties, she was away that time, i forgot to take pics then, back home only realise, sob sob, always so blur :( :( >
My besties xoxo:
Amethyst & Jewel.
Pearl & Amethyst.
Everytime i go Pasta Zanmai these days, i miss 3 of u dearly.
Pasta Zanmai is sure worthy of a try. The price is slightly above average, but what can we expect from an Italian – Japanese restaurant right~ ^^ as far as i know, there are 2 of them – Mid Valley and 1 Utama.
they belong to this group which has a variety of sushi restaurant called SuperSushi Sdn Bhd~ Besides Pasta Zanmai, they also have Sushi Zanmai and Sushi Zen – which serves pure Japanese food but another specialty is Chuka Zanmai – which combines Japanese and Chinese~ A restaurant by Rakuzen Japanese~
