Penang Blues All Taken In –> stomach of course (=

Elbrine & Lisa.

Remember my last post on how I ate away the blues?

Well, it really helps. Those lucky fellas in Penang must feel
better having to have so many good local foods to chew on.
My friends said that Penang food is good everywhere :D
You don’t need to search around that hard~

It’s kinda true. Just a few steps away from my hotel (Gurney Hotel),
there’s this food court that serves great food.

What will you think of if I mentioned to you Hokkien mee?

1st thing that cross my mind – black tasty mee (yum yum).
But when I ordered Hokkien mee here, they gave me this:
Hmmm, what happen to my black sauce? Did they forget to put it in?
Den only I got to know that the Hokkien mee in Penang is like this.

Anyway, it tastes good. So, who cares la. Hehe~ ^^

Of course, not forgetting this in Penang… Penang Loh Bak. There are so many
selection and varieties here, that I’ve asked Elbrine to go with me and stop me
in case I took too much, and she really did >< We took this few only (as above)~

Strangely, the food here tastes better than those in KL…
Dono if it’s just me or it really is. The char kuey teow here is also nice.

Talking bout Char Kuey Teow, there’s this MUST EAT ones from 2 sisters
who wear red hats. So, we drive there to taste it. I think it’s at Lorong Selamat..
(hope I didn’t get it wrong) :P

Reach there and there stands an old lady with a very big red hat~

(it looks like those chef hat that has drop down).
Sister “Char Koay Teow”

When I got near, only I realized how cute that old lady is.
She looks so trendy in her stylish yellow stripe goggle and
the red hat. But she looks very serious frying the kuey teow.

… but… look at her hand :( got plaster… surely
bcuz of the hot oil… :( :( :(

*camwhore while waitin*

Our kuey teow came quite fast coz there’s not a lot of people and it looks
yummy. I seldom eat char kuey teow but this time round, I ate…!!!
and I never regretted it :D

It tastes so good. On top of that, got 3 big prawns.

While eating, I thought of going behind the scene to look
at how the old lady can produce such yummy dish and all
I can see is the use of charcoal.

and a fan to blow it…

such traditional way but just works ^^ well, I’m sure the
secret must be more than this.

Anyway, I got to continue on my journey…
journey for more food. haha~

But before leaving, I manage to take a shot with this cute old lady.
* sisters, thanks for allowing me to shoot so many pics oo~
bcuz of u both, i love kuey teow now *its true*.

Well, this place surely deserve a thumb up!
* price is reasonable, mine is RM6 but with 3 big prawns and a lot of efforts*

My next target… Asam Laksa (my fav). We went to the
Asam Laksa at Ayer Itam (just beneath Kek Lok Si Temple).

Here, the chef is also another old guy…
(I think the years of experience surely make the food taste better) ^^

the other chef also look very much alike. I think they are twins.

But the Asam Laksa here is cheap, only RM2.50…
wher to find these days >_<

and it is good too (but a lil too much veggie), they really put alot veggie.

The soup is nice. You can tell by the look of their pot.
* err, not sure if i should say its nice, at 1st glance, i reali think its dirty..
but after i ate it, i love it :|

The owner here is very friendly and I took a photo with him too…
he keeps smiling and when i leave, he “bye bye!” “bye bye!” and
“bye bye” with me , sweet. ^^

After so many good meals, we decided to head back to hotel. It’s kinda
tiring driving here and there to look for food but it’s worth it.

But only back in the room that our driver starts complaining about us.. ><
Well, who would have thought that our hotel is so caring that we could order
all the nice food in Penang from our room.

Look at this:

All the famous foods are here and there are a few that we’ve missed out.
* well, we only tried sister char koay teow :| :| :|

order from hotel cost RM 16.00 nett for each… well, i prefer to go out
and hunt for the foods myself instead of havin those in hotel… of cuz
lah, different environment more syok right :P

awww. surely, i’ll be back again in search for the rest!! :D
*i love foods!!!*

Anyhow, all these foods make Lisa a happy gal again :)
